Social Inclusion League 2025/26 Season

New Social Inclusion 11v11 League Kicks Off

A brand-new Social Inclusion 11v11 Football League has officially launched, following the merger of the Social Inclusion 11v11 League and the Social Inclusion Wellbeing League.

This new structure brings together the best of both formats to create one stronger, unified competition designed to give more players from across the North West the chance to experience full 11-a-side football in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Developed in partnership with Lancashire FA and local community teams, the league is designed for players who may not traditionally access mainstream football, including those facing challenges around mental health, social exclusion, or financial barriers.

Football With Inclusion at Its Heart

The new league offers a full 11v11 experience complete with referees, structured fixtures, and safeguarding standards while recognising the unique needs of the players involved. Matches are arranged around professional club schedules to maximise attendance and reduce barriers to participation.

Unlike traditional leagues, the Social Inclusion 11v11 model is built on flexibility and support. Clubs are encouraged to provide wraparound care: linking players to health and wellbeing support, training opportunities, and wider community resources alongside their football journey.

Teams Already Signed Up

Expressions of interest have already been confirmed from an exciting mix of clubs and organisations across the North West, including:

  • Strong FC
  • Chorley FC Foundation
  • Blackpool Football Therapy
  • Hardly Athletic
  • Kendal Community Football
  • Unity FC
  • Lancaster Military Vets
  • Village Manchester
  • Get Together After Serving
  • Buckshaw FC
  • Fylde Community FC

This early commitment shows the appetite for a more inclusive competition across the region, with further interest expected before the first fixture dates are confirmed.

Strong FC Leading the Way

Strong FC will be among the founding clubs in this merged competition, building on its successful work in the Lancashire FA Social Inclusion small-sided leagues.

“Football is more than just sport - it’s about creating opportunities and a sense of belonging,” said James Dewhurst, CEO at Strong FC. “The Social Inclusion 11v11 League means players who might have been excluded in the past now have a platform to play competitively, represent their community, and grow both on and off the pitch.”

Strong FC’s offer will include:

  • VEO match recording and photography to celebrate achievements.
  • Strong Sessions training programmes to prepare players for fixtures.
  • Social events and wellbeing support, ensuring the team environment extends beyond matchday.

A Movement for Change

The league was shaped after consultation with teams and partners, who highlighted the demand for a safe, inclusive 11v11 competition. Safeguarding, mental health awareness, and community development are woven into its framework, ensuring the competition is about more than football, it’s about life chances.

“This isn’t just another league,” added Dewhurst. “It’s a movement that proves football really can be for everyone.”

A Strong Start

Strong FC is proud to confirm that 30 lads have officially signed on to represent the community in the new league. This milestone reflects both the demand for inclusive football and the commitment of players who want to be part of something bigger than the game itself.

From the Dugout

Jez Williamson, Strong FC’s Social Inclusion League Manager, added:

“This league is a fantastic opportunity for our players. Many of them have only ever experienced small-sided formats, so to now step up to a full 11-a-side competition is a huge moment. What makes it special is the focus on inclusion everyone here belongs, no matter their background or ability. I’m excited to lead Strong FC into this new chapter and to see the lads grow together as a team.”
